^{Growing up in a small town, you are often faced with a choice after high school: should you stay or should you leave? I chose to leave the village of Blomstermåla in Småland. Five years ago, I began returning to Blomstermåla and looking up friends and acquaintances who had chosen to stay. I wanted to understand how their lives differed from mine and explore an alternative reality – what my life might have been like if I had stayed. Over the years, I have attended parties, gone cruising through town, attended jitterbug dances at the local community center, and simply sat in people’s homes waiting for something to happen. These meetings and the resulting photographs offered me a way back in and now I want to show where I come from in an artistic context.}
